Operation Goodwill!

Because of the screening, I went
to an appointment and found
out I had breast cancer. I am now
in chemotherapy treatment. The
screening was indicative and was
what made me get a follow-up
appointment. Luckily the cancer
was caught at curable stage.” M.M.,

In the past decades Ford Motor
Company has been a leader in
corporate responsibility especially in
its efforts to find a cure for breast
cancer. Unfortunately, a cure has not
been found but that has not deterred
their efforts to saving lives. Recently,
the Northwest Ford Dealers launched
Operation Goodwill with a “Women’s
Health Initiative Tour” kicked off
September 28, 2011 at the final Seattle
Mariner’s game, with live TV coverage
during the pre-game show. Beginning
October 1, the tour was on the road for
a six month swing through Washington,
Oregon and Idaho, stopping at least
once in every Northwest Region dealer’s
market. It was in Gresham the last
week of November.
The goal of this initiative was to
provide screenings to women that
otherwise would not be able to afford
an annual mammogram. The response
was great as 48% of the women
screened did not have insurance.
This sure makes you proud to be
a Ford Dealer in the Northwest!
One final quote from one of the
women that participated:
Lost my insurance after being
laid off after 22 years with the
company, insurance gone too, to
young for Medicare and I was denied
Medicaid, this is a blessing in such a
dark time. Thank you Ford!”
