Remembering 9/11

We all remember that day.  Who could forget?  Where you were, what you felt, and who you were with.  It’s ingrained in all of us and it’s something that we all share.
In honor of all those first responders that were lost that day, here’s what Gresham Ford is doing through the generosity of Ford Motor Company.  Through October 3rd we’re presenting a “First Responder Program” with a major enhancement of $2,000 bonus cash on eligible 2015, 2016 and 2017 F-150 and Super Duty.  If you are a first responder, (police, fire, paramedic) or you know someone who is, we’d love for you to take of advantage of this amazing offer. There are other incentives too so come on in and ask one of our sales professionals for all the details!
Also, if you’re a runner, know someone who is or just want something fun to do to commemorate the events of 9/11, head to Historic Downtown Gresham Main City Park, 219 S Main St, this Sunday September 11th for the 2016 Springwater Half Marathon.  It’s something the whole family can enjoy.  From a kids dash starting at 7:30am, a 9/11 Recognition Ceremony a 8am followed by the start of the race and the awards ceremony at 10:30am, to finish beer garden, live music and food!  And the best part is, all the proceeds from this event will go to benefit Veterans of Foreign Wars.  For more information and to register, go to: http://www.runspringwaterhalf.com/.
On that note, the annual Veterans Stand Down will be happening again October 22nd, 2016.  Stand Downs provide services to homeless veterans such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling, and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as housing, employment and substance abuse treatment.  Stand Downs are collaborative events, coordinated between local VAs, other government agencies, AND LOTS of community support and volunteers. If you’d like to help, donate or just want more information, please contact Amy Tipsord at atipsord@greshamford.com.

Gresham Ford's recommendations for Labor Day

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

The first state bill was introduced into the New York legislature, but the first to become law was passed by Oregon on February 21, 1887. By the year 1894, Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday in the District of Columbia and the territories. Still later, by a resolution of the American Federation of Labor convention of 1909, the Sunday preceding Labor Day was adopted as Labor Sunday and dedicated to the spiritual and educational aspects of the labor movement.
Enough of the history lesson and on to what’s happen now for this Labor Day celebration! Here at Gresham Ford, we’re going to do what we ought and give our customers, “Freedom to save, Freedom from Interest and Freedom to Choose”!  Running through September 6th, 2016, Ford is offering 0% PLUS Ford Smart Bonus Cash! Come in anytime and have a chat with one of our sales professionals to find out all the details!  Save, pay no interest and choose from our great selection of new Ford cars, trucks and SUVs!  And remember, you only have until Tuesday, September 6th to take advantage of this amazing opportunity!

And for something fun to do, if you like running, run or walk the Springwater Half; A half marathon, 10k, 5k and kid’s dash that follows a former railway line of the same name. The Springwater Half is kicking off its inaugural year in 2016, September 11th, at Main City Park, 219 S Main Ave., Gresham, OR 97080 . After you finish the course enjoy live music, a beer garden, and great food at the finish line. For more information and to register, go to http://www.runspringwaterhalf.com/.
